We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t kick on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a couple things you can check yourself prior to calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.
Check Your Thermostat
See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but verify the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
