Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are getting through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night just to realize your furnace won’t start up. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Wesley Wood Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should change standard air filters monthly. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

See if turning the temperature up a few degrees will get the furnace to turn on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Wesley Wood Service Experts a call at 484-401-7577 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
