What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Wesley Wood Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in West Chester always writes about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it really mean?

NATE stands for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is optional and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to Wesley Wood Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our technicians are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based exams that assess the technician’s knowledge of these subjects.

Since Wesley Wood Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only certain areas relevant to our technicians. NATE test candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the talent areas listed below:
