Back in May, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh accepted a call from a man named Jimmy from the Raleigh area who told Service Experts about a special project he was in the midst of for his neighbor Kyla.
Kyla Tracy is an exceptional 9 year old who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, sometimes referred to as brittle bone disease. She relies on a wheelchair to move around and her home was not wheelchair accessible, mostly because of the size of the chair. When Jimmy became aware of the situation, he considered remodeling the Tracy family’s home to make it entirely wheel-chair friendly. Unfortunately, due to the age of the home, the task was going to be more work than he realized. Not yet defeated, Jimmy opted to try turning the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair compatible mini-suite, which would include Kyla’s own bedroom, bathroom, playroom, and kitchen area.
Thrilled to have a working plan, Jimmy began calling local businesses, including electricians, building supply companies, and plumbers and they all said they would be thrilled to help and give their services and supplies. He called Service Experts of Raleigh for the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) piece of Kyla’s new apartment. Two of Service Experts residential sales consultants went to Kyla’s home to find out more about the remodel and were blown away by how smart and kind Kyla was and they decided they had to be involved.
Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he assumed he would pay for the $12,000 HVAC equipment for his little girl’s new living area, but with the generosity of Lennox and RE Michel, Service Experts of Raleigh was able to present Kyla’s family an invoice that read:
“We are honored to present you with a complete heating and cooling system at not cost as long as we can all get hugs.”
The team at Service Experts of Raleigh were overwhelmed to help provide such an incredible girl with a much-deserved place to live and get around in her wheelchair efficiently and safely. But there’s still more to do. Kyla’s family is fundraising to purchase a wheel-chair friendly automobile to better transport Kyla and her family.
